Hello Team and Soccer Families!

Coach Mick here, hoping you are all enjoying the balmy summer season. As the sun shines brighter, our indoor Futsal warriors, Cavaly Team Japan, are lighting up the field too! I’m thrilled to announce that our team remains undefeated, taking the latest victory 9 to 5. Bravo, Team Japan!

For those who may be unfamiliar with the exciting world of Futsal, allow me to delve a little deeper into its history and fundamentals. Plus, I’ll explain why it’s a terrific way for young soccer enthusiasts to refine their skills during the sweltering summer months when the outdoor pitch can be a bit too hot.

What is Futsal?

Futsal, which translates to “room football” in Spanish, originated in Uruguay in the 1930s. It’s a fast-paced, 5-a-side indoor version of soccer, designed for small, enclosed spaces. The game uses a smaller, less bouncy ball, which emphasizes technical skills in high pressure situations.

The Futsal-Soccer Connection

Why is Futsal the greatest way for young soccer players to hone their skills over the summer? Here are a few reasons:

  1. Ball Control and Skill Development: The smaller pitch and ball size demand better control and precision, fostering skill development.
  2. Quick Decision Making: The fast-paced nature of Futsal encourages players to think and act quickly, improving their soccer intelligence.
  3. More Ball Time: With fewer players on the pitch, everyone gets more touches on the ball, leading to more involved, active play.
  4. Indoor Environment: Futsal provides an opportunity to keep playing and improving even when the summer heat makes outdoor play uncomfortable.

As we continue our Futsal journey this summer, remember, every game, every touch of the ball, and every decision made on the pitch takes us one step closer to becoming better soccer players. Here’s to an exciting and skill-enhancing summer with Futsal. Go, Team Japan!

Stay cool, stay active,

Coach Mick
